Richmond pair Rhyan Mansell and Hugo Ralphsmith will remain at Richmond for another season, each putting pen to paper on a one-year contract extension ahead of the 2024 season.
Mansell played 17 games at AFL level for Richmond this year, taking his career tally to 32 since joining the Club as a Supplemental Period Selection ahead of the 2021 season.
The 23-year-old, who started at Richmond as a small defender, was used mainly across half-forward this year.
Mansell booted 10 goals and averaged 2.5 tackles per game across his most productive season since he first joined the Club from Woodville West Torrens (SANFL).
The Tasmanian has impressed in his AFL career to date with his versatility, speed and relentless attack on the ball.
Ralphsmith, who Richmond selected with pick No. 46 overall at the 2019 AFL Draft, has also featured 32 times at senior level for the Club.
The 21-year-old running defender added 13 games for the second consecutive season, which included five as the substitute.
Ralphsmith averaged 15.5 disposals and 4.6 marks per game when in the starting 22, impressing with his long kicking, speed, and dare.
Richmond General Manager, Football Talent- Blair Hartley said that Mansell and Ralphsmith had made promising starts to their AFL careers.
“Rhyan and Hugo have shown that they can perform at AFL level in various roles,” he said.
“We are excited to have these two young players returning to the Club in 2024, and with a strong pre-season, we are looking forward to seeing them continue to take strides next year.
“It is pleasing that they will be remaining at the Club.”
