"(Cotchin) was just a bit sore and the five-day break just proved a little bit tough... He’ll be right for next week." Interim Head Coach Andrew McQualter said when speaking to the media this morning.
Martin has also been managed due to soreness. The 32-year-old star midfielder is expected to return next week.
Co-captain Nankervis returns from his three-week suspension for the impending ruck battle with Bulldog Tim English.
Short's hard-running and booming kick also make him a crucial inclusion for the high-stakes game at Marvel Stadium, as the 27-year-old returns for his milestone 150th AFL game.
Also making his way back into the line-up is Noah Cumberland, who earned his recall after a six-goal effort in the VFL two weekends ago.
Rounding out the inclusions is Jacob Bauer, who will play his second AFL game after recovering from the unfortunate hamstring injury he suffered just minutes into his debut game back in Round 17.
Rhyan Mansell, Sam Banks and Ben Miller have all been omitted for the Friday night match.
Mansell and Banks have been named as Richmond's emergencies, alongside Thomson Dow and Judson Clarke, with the Club to confirm the substitute 60 minutes before the opening bounce.
Last week's activated substitute, Matthew Coulthard, features in the starting 22 for the first time in his AFL career after being named substitute two weeks in a row.
McQualter said the side was determined to bounce back from last weekend's loss.
"The players are really keen to get back out there," McQualter said.
"We learnt a few good lessons last week... We get to play another great team so we're excited to go."
Friday night's game will be broadcast live on Channel 7, FOX FOOTY and Kayo Sports.
