As crazy as it seems, Dustin Martin continues to fly under the radar this season.
The triple Richmond premiership superstar and 2017 Brownlow Medallist produced another top-class performance for the Tigers in their fighting one-point win against Hawthorn at the MCG last Saturday.
Martin finished the match with 24 disposals, 10 contested possessions, seven marks, two goals, seven score involvements and 393 metres gained.
He is averaging 22.6 disposals, 1.1 goals and 7.0 score involvements per match this season, which are elite individual statistical numbers at the game’s highest level.
Interim Richmond coach Andrew McQualter, speaking in his post-match press conference last Saturday, commended Martin for the consistent form he has displayed throughout the 2023 season.
“His level is just so high. And I think to be able to maintain that high level is something that he probably doesn’t get enough credit for,” McQualter said.
“I know he’s been spoken about a bit the last few weeks, but every single week he puts himself in a position to help us win games of football . . .
“It’s a real credit to him.”
