Richmond produced the equal-third best last-quarter comeback in its league football history to defeat Hawthorn at the MCG last Saturday.

The Tigers turned a 30-point deficit at three-quarter time into a thrilling one-point win – their equal-best final-term fightback in more than 50 years.

Back in 1971, they also came from 30 points down at the last change to secure victory over St Kilda at Moorabbin.

Richmond’s greatest fourth-quarter comeback occurred in 1947 against South Melbourne, when it won after trailing by 37 points at three-quarter time.

Last Saturday’s result was the fourth one-point outcome in the history of contests between Richmond and Hawthorn dating back to 1925, when the Hawks entered the then VFL competition.
