Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in last Thursday's loss to Sydney at the Swinburne Centre.
Thomson Dow (30 disposals, 18 contested possessions, 11 clearances, one goal)
"Had an outstanding game. Led all players with 11 clearances and was instrumental for us in and around stoppage. It was good to see him hit the scoreboard also."
James Trezise (22 disposals, six marks, five rebound-50s)
"Also outstanding. He won the ball back for us a dozen times off the opposition, and for most of the day, he used the ball very well. He's in very good form and he's ready if an opportunity presents itself."
Tyler Sonsie (22 disposals, six inside-50s, two marks)
"He had a reasonable day. We'd love to see him impact in and around stoppage a little bit more and win more of his own ball. Having said that, he used the ball pretty well to create for us on the day."
Cam Olden (22 disposals, 15 contested possessions, five clearances, three marks)
"I'd love Cam to get a little bit more outside ball. He had huge contested ball numbers with 15, and probably should have finished with a goal or two as well."
Angus Hicks (18 disposals, five inside-50s, three rebound-50s)
"I thought Angus had a reasonable day playing mainly on a wing. He knows that role pretty well and executed it well on the day."
Lachlan Street (18 disposals, five clearances, four rebound-50s)
"He had an okay game, but it could have been better with a little bit more polish. Looking for him to bounce back to his best football next weekend against Southport."
Mutaz El Nour (18 disposals, five marks, three rebound-50s)
"Mutaz won the ball back for us really well at half-back and he's strung together a couple of really good weeks now. I think he's in good form and he's a really important player for us."
Garrett McDonagh (17 disposals, five tackles, two goals)
"Great to have him back on the weekend after a long layoff with injury. He came back as if he hadn't missed a beat and he kicked a couple of crucial goals for us also."
Hugo Ralphsmith (16 disposals, three marks, one goal)
"He played down back and on a wing and I thought he ran and carried and was able to overlap really well to break lines on occasion. But, we probably could have got more bang for buck from his disposal."
Noah Cumberland (15 disposals, seven inside-50s, two goals)
"Had four shots on goal. He has the opportunity to really impact games, which we saw on the weekend. I'd just like for him to be a little bit more consistent through the four quarters."
Tom Brown (14 disposals, five rebound-50s, four marks)
"He was okay without being outstanding, the bar has certainly raised for him over the last few weeks. His ball use was very good, but I think he's capable of taking it to another level."
Bigoa Nyuon (14 disposals, eight rebound-50s, three marks)
"An interesting game. His best was very good. A couple of his big spoils were crucial for us, I'd just like to see more of them."
Ivan Soldo (13 disposals, 32 hit-outs, five marks)
"We dominated hit-outs through Ivan, we probably just didn't make the most of them around clearances. I thought he battled away on the day, but struggled to really dominate on a difficult day for talls."
Will Bravo (13 disposals, four inside-50s, two tackles)
"We saw some promising signs from Will. His attack on the footy is second to none. I'd like to see him improve his structures and understanding of our game-style, but to see the intent he tackled with was really pleasing."
Matt Coulthard (10 disposals, two marks, one inside-50)
"An interesting day for Matt. I thought he had the opportunity to have a big influence on the game. He looked really promising, but probably didn't have the impact on the scoreboard we would like for him to have."
Samson Ryan (10 disposals, five marks, two inside-50s)
"Once again, he looked as though he could have blown the game apart. He took three towering contested marks and had a number of shots on goal, but was unable to convert unfortunately."
Mykelti Lefau (10 disposals, five marks, one goal)
"He's going really well, we've just had to manage him over the last couple of weeks. But, he could have easily kicked three or four goals on the day. He's a really important part of our team."
Kaelan Bradtke (nine disposals, four marks, two goals)
"Kicked a couple of goals and gave another off. I think he's progressed really well over the past month. He's having a much bigger influence on games for us and has been much improved in his aerial contests."
Misilifi Faimalo (nine disposals, three tackles, one rebound-50)
"I love what he brings defensively, we just need to tidy up some offensive decision-making and execution, as well as some fundamentals. He's a really exciting player for us."
Harry Broderick (nine disposals, three rebound-50s, two marks)
"It's very early on in Harry's career but one thing that stands out is his ability to use the football, which was on show again on the weekend. He certainly holds his own at VFL level and will only get better."
Joel Nathan (eight disposals, three tackles, one rebound-50)
"Played down back on the weekend which is a bit of a switch up from recent weeks. I thought he was solid without really standing out. You know what you're going to get from Joel, he leaves nothing out on the field and his tackle pressure stood out."
Steely Green (eight disposals, two marks, one inside-50)
"Didn't have a huge impact on the game, but I did really like his energy in and around the ball. He did look lively when he was around the footy and I'm certain that will translate into a breakout performance in the coming weeks."
Luke Teal (five disposals, one tackle, one rebound-50)
"Hurt his knee early on in the match and bravely came out and continued on for us. It was a quiet day for him but it was a big effort to come out and ensure we weren't a player down."
