The Richmond Football Club and nib have extended their sponsorship agreement for a further four years, taking the partnership for the men’s program to a decade, and the women, to seven years.
nib was an inaugural partner of the Tigers' AFLW team, which kicked off in 2020.
The sponsorship will run to 2027 for both teams. It includes funding for Richmond’s Korin Gamadji Institute (KGI), which since 2011, has provided training for emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders.
nib’s sponsorship includes support for the community and seeing the nib brand on the front of both the men’s and women’s guernsey, said Ed Close, nib Chief Executive Australian Residents Health Insurance.
Richmond Football Club Chief Executive Officer, Brendon Gale, said he was delighted to be reaching for a decade of sponsorship with nib for the men’s team, following the four-year extension.
“It’s a long-term commitment from nib, and one that fits within the ethos we have around health and community. Nothing is more symbolic of our Club than our jumper, and we are proud to have nib and everything the brand stands for represented every time our Richmond men and women take to the field,” Mr Gale said.
“We are delighted we will reach 10 years, and look forward to the future years of partnership.”
Richmond Director of Indigenous Leadership- Angela Burt, who is also a part of nib’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Advisory Committee, added that nib’s commitment would support Indigenous youth.
“We are very grateful for nib and their significant contribution to the Club’s Korin Gamadji Institute,” she said.
“nib’s investment goes towards supporting the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as a key focus within our programming.
“The words Korin Gamadji means to Grow and Emerge in Woiwurrung language of the Wurundjeri people, and we look forward to continuing to do this alongside nib and their own reconciliation journey across the next four years.”
nib is committed to a decade with Richmond and ongoing support of the Korin Gamadji Institute, Mr Close said.
nib and Richmond has teamed up this week to recognise NAIDOC Week. Arrente and Luritja woman, Michelle Kerrin, has designed the artwork featured on the men’s run-through banner for the Round 17 clash with Sydney.
“We have NAIDOC Week activities planned for our match day on Thursday,” Mr Close said. Ms Kerrin is a former program lead with the Institute and the artist chosen to illustrate nib’s Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).
