Richmond Football Club was proud to host over 100 women at the Swinburne Centre’s Maurice Rioli Room, overlooking Punt Road Oval, for a recent women in leadership interactive workshop.

Keynote speakers for the all-day event included renowned author and TEDx speaker Lael Stone and former Netball Australia and Australian Sports Commission CEO Kate Palmer.

Richmond AFLW captain Katie Brennan, the Club’s Director of Indigenous Leadership Angela Burt, and the Club’s AFLW Culture and Leadership Coach and high-ranking Australian Navy official Liz Quinn also shared insights at the event.

The accomplished women from various fields discussed key themes such as; applying effective communication, using a strengths-based approach to leadership, what high performance looks like, and leading with emotional intelligence and authenticity.

All aspects of the educational offering tied back to helping guests to gain a greater understanding of leadership, including their own strengths and characteristics.

Reflecting on the inaugural event, Richmond’s Head of Education and Training, Airlie Tudhope, said that by the end of the day, all guests knew they had been a part of something special.

“The energy in the room was one of belonging and trust, and women felt comfortable to learn from and with each other,” she added.

“Our expertise in education meant there was a tailored mix of speakers, content, and activities, which allowed participants to walk away with tangible tools and an understanding of how they can thrive in all aspects of their lives.”

The Club received phenomenal feedback from the day, with a net promoter score of 87, a highlight of the glowing reviews.

“Incredible messages, speakers were such a variety and so impressive,” one guest said.

“Everyone was fantastic, and I was surprised at the level of interaction and self-reflection. It was challenging, but in the best way possible… an incredible day.” Another person added.
