Richmond's line-up is in for Friday night's Gather Round clash against Sydney at Adelaide Oval.

Three-time premiership forward Jack Riewoldt will be a welcome return to the side after he was managed last Saturday against the Western Bulldogs. 

He'll be joined by Ben Miller, who has been recalled for his second senior appearance of the season. Miller will be on ruck duties for the Tigers in the absence of injured co-captain Toby Nankervis. 

The inclusions replace Tom Lynch and Nankervis, who both underwent surgery this week on respective foot and ankle injuries, and Jack Graham, who hurt his hamstring in Round 4.

Trent Cotchin, last week's activated substitute, has been named in the starting 22. 

"Last week he came on as our sub and had a reasonable impact from that point of view, and Jack's had a good rest so he'll be ready to go this week," Tigers' coach Damien Hardwick said when speaking to the media from Adelaide on Thursday afternoon.

Richmond's four emergencies for the game are Maurice Rioli, Jack Ross, Jacob Bauer and Sam Banks.

The Tigers will confirm which player steps into the 23 to be the substitute 60 minutes before the opening bounce.

Hardwick said he was expecting an "intriguing battle", with both teams hoping to turn things around after Round 4 losses.

"They're two pretty proud sides," he said.

"It's going to be a great game trying to see what both sides will bring and that's the exciting thing, hopefully we fill the stadium."

Friday night's Gather Round match at Adelaide Oval will be broadcast live on Channel 7, Fox Footy and Kayo Sports.
