Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Saturday's Round 3 match against Footscray at the Swinburne Centre.
Lachlan Street (24 disposals, 18 contested possessions, seven clearances, five tackles, one goal)
"Had a pretty good game with ball in hand, however, we were probably beaten as a midfield on the day. The challenge (this week) will be to engage with our opposition a little bit more than we did, and that suits his style of play."
Jack Ross (22 disposals, six rebound-50s, four clearances)
"Came back and had another good game at this level. He's a player that stands out when he plays VFL, and I thought in particular, his second half when he went into the midfield was of a high standard."
Jacob Bauer (18 disposals, nine rebound-50s, five marks, one goal)
"Played down back after hitting the scoreboard pretty heavily in the first couple of games this season, and he was outstanding in defence. He stood out with his aerial power when both marking and spoiling, it was a really good starting point for him down back."
Garrett McDonagh (18 disposals, seven rebound-50s, five tackles)
"He's gotten better each week in the contest and with his body work. His defence has been really sound and he's a weapon for us with the footy in hand, but the conditions certainly didn't help him on the weekend."
Steely Green (17 disposals, seven inside-50s, six clearances, six tackles)
"Had six clearances and six tackles which is great to see from a young player. He played in the midfield for the first time and we're looking forward to him getting some continuity into his football."
Austin Johnson (17 disposals, five marks, four clearances)
"Has made a really good start to the season on the wing. He uses the ball well, he sets up well and he's tough in the contest. He was one of our better players."
Tom Bracher (17 disposals, three marks, two tackles)
"Hasn't played a lot of VFL footy, but he really did look a class above with ball in hand. He was hitting kicks that others couldn't on the day, and he's a player that we need to find ways to get the ball into his hands because he makes great decisions."
Ben Miller (16 disposals, five clearances, 33 hit-outs, one goal)
"It was a pretty tough task for him in the ruck. Once Bigoa Nyuon went down, he was flying solo in that space. He fought gallantly up against Bulldog Jordon Sweet in the ruck, and I thought he gave us something around the ground. It was nice to see him have multiple shots on goal."
Angus Hicks (15 disposals, four marks, four tackles)
"He's started the season in really good fashion. Once again, had his opportunities in front of goal. He probably didn't seize those chances that he has been taking in recent weeks, but it was a solid game by him again."
Tom Brindley (15 disposals, three inside-50s, two marks)
"Played a really good role for us. He was required to change his position pretty early on in the game, with our keys going down. He started on a wing and he looks really dangerous there at the moment."
Sam Banks (14 disposals, five inside-50s, four marks)
"He got into some really good spots. He didn't get a heap of the ball, but I thought he was quite damaging. He had one particular contest late in the game that he can be really proud of, running back with the flight of the ball and putting a big spoil on."
Fraser Elliot (14 disposals, three tackles, two inside-50s)
"He's a beautiful ball user and makes good decisions with it in his hands, but he's got to play to his strengths and use his size to bully the opposition."
Cam Olden (10 disposals, four marks, two goals)
"He really gives us something wherever he plays. He started up forward and looked like our most dangerous forward, and he went on-ball later in the game and I thought he played quite well. It's nice to see that we've got that flexibility with Cam, that he can impact in multiple roles."
Mutaz El Nour (nine disposals, three tackles, three rebound-50s)
"Was once again really solid in defence. He was part of a back six that were really under the pump in the first half, but only gave up 20 points for the entire second half. His starting points and physicality are two things that really stand out."
Max Clohesy (eight disposals, three tackles)
"Played really well on debut and I was really pleased with his game. He had a number of crucial moments where he stepped in, and either won the ball back or nullified the contest. I think he will benefit greatly from the outing."
Mohammed Yassine (eight disposals, three tackles)
"He's had a really good taste of VFL footy in the last few weeks and I'm sure that he'll grow from that experience. He's starting to understand our system and our structures and we can see that growth every week."
Lachlan Johnson (seven disposals, four marks, two inside-50s, one goal)
"Whilst his numbers don't look outstanding, he's an absolute barometer for us on defence. He has really bought into the Richmond style of defence and I'm really proud of the way he's going about that. I'd just like to see him have a little a bit more impact, as he's a super talented player."
James Trezise (seven disposals, seven tackles, two marks)
"Played down back for the first three quarters and we swung him forward late. I thought he was really solid down back and had some really good opportunities up forward that he would usually capitalise on. But, he's a really key part of us moving forward."
Maurice Rioli (seven disposals, five tackles, five inside-50s)
"Had limited game impact, but we certainly saw his defensive pressure on show. We'd certainly be looking for him to have more of an impact, but I thought he turned up with the right attitude and hopefully he'll be able to start taking those opportunities."
Joel Nathan (six disposals, two rebound-50s)
"Had an average first quarter by his standards, but it was good to see him bounce back strongly after quarter time. He has missed a fair bit of footy over the last couple of months with a pretty serious wrist injury. He's just working his way back into his best form, but he's a key part of our back six."

Bigoa Nyuon
"Made a good start to the game but unfortunately went down with an ankle injury and was unable to come back on. It threw us out a fair bit in terms of our key position players and our team balance."
Robbie Tarrant
"Robbie didn't last very long in the match unfortunately. It was a disappointing day for him, with him not being able to get through with his hip injury."
Kaelan Bradtke
"Had a quiet start to the game but was unfortunately injured in a pretty heavy collision in which he broke his hand and played no further part in the game."
