As announced on Thursday afternoon, 24-year-old Young will make his AFL debut against the Crows, following his rapid ascent through the ranks.

The 196cm athletic key defender has been quick to impress after being elevated from Richmond's VFL program in last year’s Rookie Draft, slotting straight into the level in both of the Tigers' AFL pre-season outings.

Twenty-two-year-old Ryan was another who showcased a standout pre-season and as such has earned a recall for his second senior game.

He came on for the final term of Richmond's pre-season game against Melbourne earlier this month, taking five marks, four of them contested grabs, and kicking a goal, turning heads since he'd played three quarters in the VFL practice match earlier that day.

The 206cm ruck/forward will give Toby Nankervis support while providing the Tigers with an additional aerial target inside 50.

"(Samson's) been going very, very well at VFL level and can pinch hit from up forward," Senior coach Damien Hardwick said when speaking to the media on Thursday morning.

"We've just got to figure out what (ruck combination) works for us, but also, what's a bit dangerous for the opposition as well."

The two inclusions replace Ryan Mansell, Ben Miller and last week's activated substitute Jack Ross, who have all been omitted.

Richmond's four emergencies for the Crows clash are Mansell, Miller, Hugo Ralphsmith and Judson Clarke

The Tigers will confirm which player steps into the 23 to be the substitute 60 minutes before Saturday's opening bounce.

As the Tigers head over to Adelaide's home deck, Hardwick said it would be a "team defence philosophy".

"We know when Adelaide play their best, their ground lends itself to high-pressure, high-contest, and they've got really dangerous forwards and stoppage strength," he said.

"We have a good understanding of what they bring and how they play... We've got to make sure we go over there and understand this is a good side that have troubled us, and we have to make sure we play our very best footy."

"We'll try and slow the ball down and force them into contest as much as we can.

"The way they move the ball can be challenging at times, so we've just got to make sure we defend that and take away some of their strengths."

Saturday's clash at Adelaide Oval kicks off at 4.35pm AEDT (4.05pm local time ACDT) and will be broadcast live on Fox Footy and Kayo Sports.
