Richmond has bolstered its tall forward stocks with the addition of star St Kilda goalkicker Caitlin Greiser.

The former Best & Fairest winner, All Australian and AFL Women’s Leading Goalkicker arrives as part of a three-way trade with Carlton and St Kilda.

In exchange Richmond has parted ways with Harriet Cordner (to Carlton) and pick 14 (St Kilda), while Natalie Plane has also joined the Saints.

Greiser, 24, burst onto the AFLW scene in 2020 after being elevated from the Southern Saints’ VFLW list, where she had earned selection in the 2019 VFLW Team of the Year.

The key forward stunned fans with her booming right foot and strong marking ability, booting 10 goals that season including three against Richmond in a best-on-ground display.

Greiser’s goal-kicking ability will be a welcome boost to Richmond, with her 29 career goals, more than every player on the Tigers’ list outside of her new key forward partner, dual All Australian Katie Brennan.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan, said that Greiser’s acquisition helped fill a need for the Tigers.

“We are delighted to bring Caitlin to our Club and expect her skill set to be able to help us right away,” she said.

“Caitlin is a proven performer at AFLW level and an excellent person with a character that will fit right into what we are trying to build here.

“It is exciting for our team and our fans that Caitlin has decided to call Richmond home, and we cannot wait for her to get started.”

Cordner played 12 matches for Richmond across three seasons after crossing from Melbourne, where she played 25 games between 2017-2020.

The athletic tall missed a large part of the 2022 summer season and the entire Season 7 due to a knee injury.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan said that Cordner had requested a fresh start.

“We thank Harriet for her contribution to our Club throughout her three seasons with us,” she said.

“Harriet requested a fresh start, after which we were able to find a suitable trade. We wish her well with the next chapter in her football career and future endeavours.”
