Premiership Tigers Chris Henderson, Vincent Naidu and Judeland Antony are set to feature in the Victorian representative team at the 2022 Toyota Wheelchair AFL National Championships.
The trio has been named in Victoria’s ‘A Squad’ set to face off against Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania and South Australia at Aligned Leisure’s Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre.
Henderson, who will co-captain the team, has been rewarded for consistently brilliant form for the Tigers since he joined the Club in 2019.
The key forward who is a former winner of Richmond and the VWFL’s league best and fairest, scored 66 majors this season.
Antony will likely suit up for Victoria at the other end of the court, having established himself as one of the competition’s best defenders this season.
The number 1 pick at the 2022 VWFL Draft, Antony will be making his Victorian debut at the National Championships.
Naidu, an excitement machine is set to excite on the big stage as he has done in Richmond’s 2019 and 2022 Grand Final wins.
The speedy forward will more than likely tick over a combined 100 goals for the year at the National Championships, having already bagged 96 for the Tigers.
Naidu, who finished runner-up in this year’s league best and fairest will also be making his debut at the state level.
Richmond skipper, Henderson said that he was excited about the opportunity to test himself at the higher level, along with two of his teammates.
“It is a great honour to be a part of the Victorian team,” he added.
“We have never won the National Championships, so for us it is a huge challenge and a wonderful opportunity to be the first team to bring home the title for Victoria. We are pumped for that.”
Henderson added that Naidu had taken his game to another level in 2022.
“He has always been a very solid footballer, but this year he has been quite brilliant. This is reward for that and an opportunity he deserves,” he said.
“Judeland as well, he has been a high performer in our defence all year.”
The National Champions will be broadcast live on KAYO Sports from November 22.
