Three-time Richmond premiership player Kane Lambert has signed on at Richmond as a development coach for the 2023 season.
Lambert has already had a taste of the new position after stepping in to assist Richmond's coaching and off-field football department following the announcement of his playing retirement in July.
The 30-year-old slotted in seamlessly, having naturally already helped younger teammates as a player, particularly while injuries impacted his ability to train regularly later in his career.
Lambert will work closely with the Club's youngsters as part of the development coaching role. He will also work with all players to hone and develop their mental skills through the peak performance program.
Richmond blooded Noah Cumberland (21), Josh Gibcus (19), Maurice Rioli Jr (20), Tyler Sonsie (19), Jack Ross (22), and Ben Miller (23) as finals debutants this year, with high-end draft picks Tom Brown, Sam Banks and Judson Clarke also set to benefit significantly from Lambert's tutelage in 2023.
Richmond General Manager- Football Performance Tim Livingstone said retaining Lambert as a part of the football program was exciting news for the Club.
"Kane has shown already that he has the makings of an excellent coach with his outstanding knowledge of the game, relationship building and communication skills," he said.
"We are delighted to have Kane's thoughts and ideas as part of our coaching structure for another season and look forward to him continuing to help us embrace the challenge of climbing the ladder in 2023."
Lambert said he was thrilled to remain at the Swinburne Centre.
"I am very grateful to be able to enter the next phase of my football career still as a part of the Richmond Football Club," he said.
"There are some promising young players here at the moment, hungry to learn and improve, and I look forward to continuing to work with them next year."
Lambert's appointment follows the recent acquisition of Ben Rutten to Richmond's coaching ranks.
