Star Richmond midfielder/forward Shai Bolton has been selected in the prestigious All-Australian team for the first time.

Bolton was the sole Tiger named in the 2022 All-Australian line-up on Wednesday evening, positioned on the half-forward flank.

The excitement machine reached new heights in 2022, putting together his best season to date.

Across 22 home and away outings, the high-flyer averaged 17.9 disposals, 64.1 per cent disposal efficiency, 3.7 clearances, 2.2 tackles, and 1.9 goals and 4.5 inside 50s per game, while kicking 41 goals.

A dual-premiership Tiger, Bolton kicked multiple goals in 15 games during 2022, topping the coaches' votes on three occasions including a perfect score of 10 in Rounds 4 and 21.

He produced a dazzling display in Richmond's Round 21 win over Port Adelaide, finishing with 17 disposals, 11 contested possessions, a game-high four marks inside 50, three inside-50s, four clearances, three tackles, four goals, a game-high 10 score involvements and 393 metres gained.

In his sixth season in the competition, the 23-year-old was ranked third in the league for total score involvements (169) and 11th for total centre clearances (54). 

The electric Tiger, one of the league's most promising players, has become a fan favourite for his silky skills,  impact on matches, and ability to stand up in big moments.

The All-Australian selection panel is comprised of AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan (chairman), Jude Bolton, Nathan Buckley, Kane Cornes, Andrew Dillon, Glen Jakovich, Gerard Healy, Chris Johnson, Cameron Ling, Nick Riewoldt and Brad Scott.
