Strongly-built, inside midfielder Andrew Moore is elated he’s been given another opportunity at the game’s highest level after being recently delisted by Port Adelaide.
The fact it’s Richmond which threw him that lifeline, has further enhanced his excitement levels.
“They’re a fantastic club and it’s going to be great to be a part of,” Moore said on 5AA.

“You see the massive fan base that they have. The attendances they have in each game are pretty incredible.
“I can’t wait to get across there to meet most of the guys and get stuck into training.
“I caught up with Damien (Hardwick) yesterday and said that I’ll start in a couple of weeks. I’ve just got to get a few things sorted in Adelaide and then I’ll shoot over and hit the track running . . .
“He (Hardwick) just welcomed me to the Club and said we’ve got you here to play AFL football and to play that inside (midfield) role.
“I think where I play my best football is as that inside ‘bull’, I suppose you could say . . . that contested side (of the game).
“So, I think I can really match it in there playing alongside some of the great players, with (Trent) Cotchin, (Dustin) Martin, and (Anthony) Miles coming through as well . . . I’m really excited to play alongside some of those guys.”
Moore, 24, 189cm and 87kg, attributed the fact he managed only 55 games in six seasons with the Power to of a combination of reasons.
“I’ve had quite an interrupted career thus far, due to injuries and a few other things that have occurred. I’ve been able to play some decent SANFL football, but where I found it quite tough, was to translate that right up to the AFL level,” he said.
“And, to try and match it with the guys that I’m running out there with . . . you don’t get as many opportunities for where I play my best footy, which is that inside role.
“It’s going to be a focus for me to try and emulate that (SANFL) form into the AFL.”
Adding to Moore’s eagerness about restarting his league career with Richmond, is his older brother Kelvin’s time at Tigerland as a player (87 senior games) from 2004-12.
“Obviously, I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Richmond because of my brother as well. It’s going to be a privilege to play for them . . ,” he said.
“I’ve met a few of the guys through Kelvin and spent a bit of time in the rooms after the games.
“Hopefully, he’ll be around the Club quite a bit now that I’m there.”
