This weekend’s VFL match clash between Richmond and Essendon will also feature an international flavour, with teams India and Pakistan – both part of the International Cup playing each other in a ‘curtain-closer’ to the VFL game.
To celebrate the occasion, traditional Indian and Pakistani food will be on offer, as well as dancing and a Kabaddi match, which is a traditional sub-continent wrestling sport.
The International Cup game between the fierce rivals, which will be the first ever Australian Football meeting between the two countries, will take place at 4pm at Highgate Reserve in Cragieburn, following the VFL match.
Team India will wear Richmond’s guernsey, and the two teams will vie for the 2014 AFL International Cup.
