There’s one Richmond player who is particularly looking forward to Saturday’s pre-season challenge clash with Port Adelaide at the Lavington Sports Ground in Albury.
The Tigers’ emerging midfielder Anthony Miles is returning to his home town, and the ground where he played plenty of junior football with the North Albury club.
“I know that Albury’s got a great Richmond following, so to get back there, to the grass roots of footy, will be really exciting,” Miles told ‘Roar Vision’.
“I think there’ll be a fair few family and friends there, which is exciting. All my family’s still down there. So I’m looking forward to that. I might stay around for a little bit longer after the game.”
Miles, in typical style, is determined to take the next step in his league career with Richmond in 2015, so he was fully aware of the importance of putting in a big pre-season.
“It’s no hidden secret that if you can get through 80 or 90% of pre-season, you put yourself in good stead for the upcoming season,” he said.
“For me, that was the focus – getting through most sessions and improving on a few deficiencies I had.
“Fortunately enough, I’m injury free and got through most of the pre-season.”
The 23-year-old is keeping his aims for the 2015 season fairly simple . . .
“I know it’s pretty clichéd, but I just want to play my role . . . I still haven’t consolidated my spot in the side,” Miles said.
“For me, it’s to play every game this year, play my role and hopefully get this club back to where it should be – playing consistent finals footy.”
