Liam Baker further enhanced his reputation as Richmond’s Mr Fixit with a dynamic display in yesterday’s big Round 15 match against Geelong at the MCG.
Baker was a major factor in the Tigers’ stirring fightback after they trailed by six goals midway through the second quarter.
The dual premiership Tiger again played a variety of on-field roles over the course of the four quarters, and he excelled in all of them.
He finished the match with 24 disposals, a game-high 14 contested possessions, four marks, eight inside-50s, a team-high seven clearances, team-high five centre clearances, three intercepts, one goal, four score involvements, four tackles and 479 metres gained.
Richmond co-captain Dylan Grimes heaped praise on Baker post-game.
“Bakes has been unbelievable for our club, on and off the field,” Grimes told Richmond Media.
“The versatility to be able to play down back, play a critical role for us, be moved into the midfield and have an impact. But then we see him tonight drift forward, hitting the scoreboard and setting up goals.
“I’ve got, I suppose, a huge man crush on Bakes.
“He’s a pretty special guy, but an even better player.”
