Former Richmond captain and 2006 Jack Dyer Medallist, Kane Johnson, has returned to Tigerland in a part-time capacity, as one of the team’s runners for the rest of the season.

He will don the orange runner’s uniform for the first time in tomorrow’s Round 19 clash with the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba.

Johnson played 116 games for Richmond from 2003-08 and was Club captain for four seasons (2005-08).

Before joining the Tigers, he spent seven seasons with the Adelaide Crows, playing 104 games, including their back-to-back premierships of 1997-98.

The 34-year-old has kept in good shape since his retirement from AFL football and has spent the past couple of weeks in the Tiger coaches box, preparing for his role as runner.
