Star Richmond midfielder Dion Prestia has polled the most votes in the Tigers v Carlton Round 21 voting for the 2019 AFL Coaches’ Association’s Player of the Year award.
Prestia received nine votes from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and David Teague (Carlton) for his excellent display in last Sunday’s clash at the MCG – a team-high 35 disposals, team-high 16 contested possessions, game-high 11 clearances, game-high nine inside-50s, four tackles, nine score involvements and 672 metres gained.
Tiger young gun Jack Graham was rewarded for his brilliant, breakout game at AFL level with eight votes.
Graham finished the match with 22 disposals, eight inside-50s, four clearances, a game-high 14 tackles, four goals, nine score involvements and 594 metres gained.
Valuable veteran Richmond playmaker Shane Edwards was superb in his 250th AFL game and, as a result, picked up six votes.
Edwards had 27 disposals, 13 contested possessions, four clearances, three inside-50s, nine tackles, four score involvements, 363 metres gained, took an equal team-high six marks and kicked a goal.
Rounding out Richmond’s Round 21 vote-getters in the prestigious coaches’ award was gun defender Nick Vlastuin with four votes following his top-class performance – 17 disposals, an equal team-high six marks, four rebound-50s, 11 intercepts and an equal team-high eight one-percenters.
