Premiership players Shane Edwards, Toby Nankervis, Dion Prestia and Trent Cotchin return to the Richmond side tonight.

The Richmond team that will tackle Carlton in the blockbuster 2022 Round 1 clash is vastly different to the one which played Hawthorn in the final round of the 2021 season.

There is a total of 11 changes to the side that drew with the Hawks at the MCG on Saturday, August 21, 2021.

Out go David Astbury (retired), Mabior Chol (now at Gold Coast), Callum Coleman-Jones (now at North Melbourne), Thomson Dow, Will Martyn, Kamdyn McIntosh (injured), Ben Miller, Matt Parker, Sydney Stack and Nick Vlastuin (injured).

In come nine Tiger premiership players – Noah Balta, Nathan Broad, Trent Cotchin, Shane Edwards, Dustin Martin, Toby Nankervis, Marlion Pickett, Dion Prestia and Ivan Soldo – along with veteran recruit from North Melbourne, Robbie Tarrant, and young AFL debutant Josh Gibcus.
