Richmond star key forward Jack Riewoldt was rewarded for his outstanding display in last Thursday night’s victory over Sydney with a perfect score in the AFL Coaches’ Association’s Player of the Year voting for Round 15.
Riewoldt, who had 23 disposals, took an AFL career-high 16 marks (eight of them inside 50 and seven contested) and kicked three goals, was duly rewarded with 10 votes from rival coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and John Longmire (Sydney).
Top Tigers midfielder Kane Lambert collected seven votes following his excellent performance – an equal team-high 27 disposals, including 12 contested possessions, five rebound-50s, four clearances, nine score involvements, three goals and 494 metres gained.
Quality small defender Nick Vlastuin polled six votes after finishing the match with 21 disposals, including 10 contested possessions, five rebound-50s, five inside-50s, 10 marks and six tackles.
Robust ruckman Toby Nankervis rounded out Richmond’s AFLCA Player of the Year voting for Round 15, picking up one vote for another typically bold performance – 18 disposals, four marks, three clearances, a team-high 10 tackles and 41 hit-outs.
