Richmond has extended the contract of emerging ruck/forward Samson Ryan for a further two years.
The young Queenslander recently put pen to paper on a deal that will see him remain at the Club until at least the end of 2024.
Ryan was selected with the Tigers’ first pick in the 2020 NAB AFL Draft (No. 40 overall), and while seen as a project player, managed to force his way into the senior line-up for an AFL debut in his first season at the Club.
The 21-year-old booted 17 goals from just nine games in the VFL last season while averaging 11 disposals, four marks and 16 hit outs per match, splitting his time between ruck and forward.
Ryan, who stands at an imposing 206cm impressed with his competitiveness and aerial ability as well as his accurate set-shot goal kicking and goal nous.
Richmond General Manager- Football Talent Blair Hartley said that the 206cm ruck/forward had made a strong start to his career.
“Samson impressed us with his training standards and on-field performance throughout his first season at the Club in 2021,” he said.
“Already, he has got a small taste of AFL football and we are very excited to see more of him across the next three seasons.”
