Richmond midfielder Dustin Martin is free to play in this Saturday’s Round 3 clash against the Western Bulldogs after being cleared of a striking charge.
Martin was reported for striking Carlton’s Simon White during the third quarter of last Thursday’s match, however the AFL Match Review Panel found there was insufficient force to warrant a suspension.

The AFL’s official statement said: “After viewing all the available footage, speaking with the umpires and receiving a medical report from the Carlton Football Club, it was the view of the panel that the force used by Martin was below that required to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.”
Meanwhile, Tigers’ small forward Jake King has been fined for misconduct, stemming from an incident with Blues’ forward Jarrad Waite during the third quarter.
The Match Review Panel charged King with a first offence for misconduct ($1200 sanction) in that he made unnecessary contact with Waite. An early guilty plea reduces the penalty by 25 percent, to $900.
