Richmond will snap a six-year hoodoo against the Western Bulldogs if it can defeat them in Sunday’s big Round 8 clash at Etihad Stadium.

The Tigers, chasing their fourth consecutive win this season, have not tasted victory over the Bulldogs since Round 3, 2005 (April 10, ’05).

They have lost seven of eight clashes with the Dogs since, and drew a high-scoring 2008 encounter at Etihad Stadium (130 points apiece).  Their average losing margin in that time has been 52 points.

Back in Round 3 of the ’05 season, Richmond won a thrilling contest by four points - 12.16 (88) to the Western Bulldogs’ 11.18 (84), with Matthew Richardson kicking four goals and Nathan Brown, three.

To underline just how long ago that was, only four members of the Tiger team that day are still at the Club - current captain Chris Newman, Brett Deledio, Daniel Jackson and Shane Tuck.

Newman was playing his 57th game, Deledio his third game, Jackson his ninth, and Tuck his sixth.

The winning goal for the Tigers was kicked by former captain, Wayne Campbell, in his 278th game and final season of league football.
