Richmond has received a boost on the eve of the 2014 season, with the re-signing of three key players.
Rebounding defender Bachar Houli and talented tall forward Ty Vickery have both signed two-year contract extensions, keeping them at the Club until at least the end of the 2016 season.
Courageous small backman Steve Morris has agreed to a three-year contract extension, which will see him remain a Tiger until at least the end of the 2017 season.
Help Richmond to ‘Bring the Roar Home’ this year, and become a 2014 member today.
“It’s a great result for the Club to lock away three of our most important players for the next few seasons,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Dan Richardson.
“Bachar, Steve and Ty are all integral members of the team, and we look forward seeing them continue to improve in 2014 and beyond.
“Pleasingly for all parties, we were able to finalise these contracts before the start of the season.”
Vickery enters his sixth year in the AFL coming off an impressive 2013 season, which saw him kick 27 goals from 21 games.
The 23-year-old had his previous season in 2012 ruined by a shoulder injury, after a breakout year in 2011, when he booted 36 goals.
He has been in impressive form for the Tigers during their 2014 pre-season, kicking seven goals from two games.
Houli has been an integral member of Richmond’s defensive unit since crossing from Essendon at the end of the 2010 season.
He has missed just two games in the past three seasons and is on course to reach the AFL’s 100-game milestone this year.
In each of his three seasons with the Tigers, the 25-year-old has finished in the top 10 in the Jack Dyer Medal.
Morris has quickly developed into one of the competition’s most consistent lock-down, small defenders.
In just two seasons of AFL football, he has played 43 of a possible 45 games, and he finished seventh in the 2013 Jack Dyer Medal.
