Richmond has landed a host of marquee matches as part of today’s AFLW 2022 fixture announcement.
The AFL today revealed the opening nine rounds of the 10-game season, with the Tigers to play three Friday night matches and host games at Punt Road in both Pride and Indigenous Rounds.
The Tigers will again be under Friday night lights in Round 2, in the Club’s first home game of the season against Melbourne at the Swinburne Centre.
Richmond will then host Fremantle on Saturday, January 22, as part of the league-wide Pride Round (Round 3), celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community.
The clash will be the first meeting between the two clubs since Richmond entered the competition in 2020.
Other home games for the Tigers include a Saturday afternoon clash against North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos on February 12 and a Saturday twilight game against Geelong on February 26.
The Tigers created history by winning their first-ever AFLW game against Geelong in Indigenous Round last year and will again celebrate the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to the AFL and community when they meet the Cats in 2022.
Richmond will be on the road three times in 2022 with away clashes against Gold Coast (Round 4), West Coast (Round 7), and GWS (Round 9).
The Tigers will also meet the Western Bulldogs at Whitten Oval in Round 5 in a Saturday night fixture broadcast live on Channel 7.
Richmond and the Bulldogs share a healthy rivalry in the AFLW, with both sides littered with young talent and two of the Tigers' inaugural signings Katie Brennan and Monique Conti, crossing from Whitten Oval to the Swinburne Centre in 2019.
