Steve Morris continues to follow in his father’s footsteps at Richmond.
Following an 87-game career with the Tigers from 2012-17 as a tough, tenacious, fearless, small defender, Morris has now taken over the coaching reins of the Club’s VFL side.
His father, Kevin, a top-notch utility, played 110 games for Richmond from 1971-76, was a member of two Tiger premierships (1973, 1974), and won the Jack Dyer Medal (1975).
He left Tigerland at the end of the 1976 season to join Collingwood, where he played 71 games from 1977-81.
Then, after coaching stints in the SANFL with West Adelaide and at Essendon, Morris returned to Richmond during the mid-1990s, serving as the Tigers’ reserve-grade coach in 1995 and then as the Club’s assistant coach to John Northey the following season.
