Richmond champion Dustin Martin has entered rarefied air in Brownlow Medal history.
Martin’s 11 votes in the 2021 Brownlow count held last night, took him past the prestigious 200-vote milestone.
He now has 202 votes from 260 AFL games, which puts him in ninth place overall on the Brownlow Medal all-time votes’ tally.
Among current day players in the competition, only Patrick Dangerfield (230), Scott Pendlebury (213) and Joel Selwood (210) have polled more Brownlow votes than Martin.
Although Dusty missed the last five games of the 2021 home-and-away season with a severe kidney injury (and six all-up), he again was the Tigers’ top vote-winner in the Brownlow.
The 2017 Brownlow Medallist started this season off superbly, polling three votes for being best afield in the opening two rounds, against Carlton, Round 1 and Hawthorn, Round 2, and was rewarded with another three-vote game against Greater Western Sydney in Round 9.
