Star Richmond key defender Alex Rance was the sole Tiger to poll votes in the AFL Coaches Association’s Player of the Year award for the Round 15 clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.
Rance received five votes from rival coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Ken Hinkley (Port Adelaide) for a trademark strong, bold performance in the Tigers’ 38-point loss.
He finished the match with 16 disposals, including seven contested possessions, a game-high 12 interceptions, a game-high six intercept marks and a team-high (as per usual) 12 one-percenters.
