Young Tigers overcome by poised Power

A tough afternoon at Adelaide Oval showed glimpses of hope for Richmond.

A tough afternoon at Adelaide Oval saw Richmond unable to overcome a poised Port Adelaide outfit, going down by 72 points.

There was no comeback for the young Tigers this week, the Tigers had no glorious comeback, succumbing 21.14 (140) to 9.14 (68) at Adelaide Oval.

There were promising signs shown from young forward Jacob Bauer, alongside an impressive debut goal from Liam Fawcett on the run in the second term.

    00:47

However, it was a steady flow of goals to the Power's end through the first half, an hour of one-sided football with a lopsided disposal count of 257 to 141 at the long break.

The Tigers showed more fight after half-time with glimpses from their future stars, especially a two-goal final term from key forward Harry Armstrong, who was gallant in the front half.

Richmond slipped 84 points behind midway through the third term, when Power skipper Connor Rozee converted a set shot, but the visitors showed beleated pluck by booting three of the next four goals.

Rhyan Mansell fought hard and applied forward pressure, but was unable to see out the match.

    00:51

Sam Banks copped a nasty knock that left him with a cut to his cheek, forced to the sidelines after being subbed off with concussion.

In his 150th, veteran defender Nathan Broad was poised down back, with young forward Seth Campbell taking charge in front of goal with two majors.

The Tigers return to Melbourne and look ahead to their Round 3 clash against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.
