Richmond coach Damien Hardwick joked during his post-match press conference last night that he had a dent in his head from butting it into a brick wall out of frustration following the Tigers’ fourth consecutive loss, against Collingwood at the MCG.
Hardwick, however, went on to point out that it’s far from all doom and gloom at Tigerland, notwithstanding the mounting losses and injuries to key players.
“It’s been challenging, in many different ways. So, you’ve got to sit back take stock, learn some lessons along the way, and continue the journey,” Hardwick said.
“We’re all about the journey at our footy club.
“We’ve had an incredible journey over the last four or five years . . . but we’re still looking forward to the journey we’ve got ahead of us.
“We’ve got some players that I thought we found again today that we look forward to taking into the future . . .
“Sydney Stack, I thought, was pretty good, young (Rhyan) Mansell was good, I thought Daniel (Rioli) showed some good signs down back as well. (And) Ryan Garthwaite comes in.
“So, we’ve had four new faces down there that competed pretty hard . . . Some real positives to take out of today’s game from our younger players, which is good.”
