Richmond VFL playing coach, Steve Morris, provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in last Saturday's Round 6 win over Brisbane.
Josh Caddy (38 disposals, two goals, eight marks, six inside-50s)
"Another dominant display from Josh on the weekend. Was a strong presence, found plenty of the footy when in the middle of the ground and hit the scoreboard again."
William Martyn (30 disposals, nine tackles, six inside-50s)
"Will was sensational on the inside again on the weekend. He was a real presence around the footy. We are really pleased with what he continues to bring from a contested point of view, and his pressure was excellent as highlighted by his nine tackles."
Brad Melville (25 disposals, six inside-50s, five tackles)
"After a couple of quieter games according to the stats sheet, Brad was rewarded for his continuous work ethic. He worked his backside off up and down the ground for us and his second and third efforts were a real highlight."
Ben Miller (24 disposals, six rebound-50s, five marks)
"'Funky' was good again on the weekend. His closing speed was on show on numerous occasions when caught out of position on turnover. His one-on-one work continues to be a strength and he is playing with great confidence."
Thomson Dow (23 disposals, five clearances, four inside-50s)
"Sensational to see Thompson continue his great form from last week. Once again, his lateral movement around the contest and his ability to use the ball by hand in traffic was great to watch."
Derek Eggmolesse-Smith (23 disposals, four inside-50s, three tackles)
"'Eggy' was again solid down back. He used the footy well and he looks switched on defensively at the moment."
Lachlan Street (23 disposals, five rebound-50s, six marks)
"'Streety' was rewarded with more of the footy personally this week. He has seamlessly fit into our rotation of backs and has been a really steady head down there. His leadership has been important and set us up well again on Saturday."
Bailey Henderson (23 disposals, six rebound-50s, three tackles)
"Bailey played the majority of the game on the wing. He was important for us in maintaining width and outlet options. His hands were also very clean on the day and he’s really eager to play his role for the team which is pleasing to see."
Mabior Chol (22 disposals, seven marks, seven clearances, three goals)
"Maintained his good form in his home state. He took strong contested marks, followed up well in the ruck and hit the scoreboard again. Most importantly, his attitude has been absolutely first-class and he led the team well on Saturday."
Callum Coleman-Jones (21 disposals, four goals, 11 marks)
"'CJ' is playing at a level above at the moment. He continues to focus on what he can control and is banging the door down for senior selection. His hands were again sensational on the weekend and if it weren’t for some missed opportunities in front of the big sticks, he would have finished with an even bigger bag."
Garrett McDonagh (21 disposals, two goals, four marks)
"Garrett once again was solid in defence. We’ve been working on a few little technical changes to his defensive game and it was great to see him implement those. As always, he used the footy very well and was able to hit the scoreboard from half-back. He's playing some really good footy."
Fraser Elliot (20 disposals, four marks, three inside-50s)
"'Fraze' just loves the inside ball. He has fit into the group really well and it’s a credit to him that he has been so influential for us around the footy. He’ll continue to learn the way we play and it will be exciting to see how he goes for us with a little more experience under his belt with our structures."
Noah Cumberland (17 disposals, six marks, one goal)
"Back in his home state, Noah was solid after a week off last week. He hit the contest hard and kicked a terrific goal. It’s great to see him back playing and now the focus will be on gaining a better understanding of the different role he may be required to play."
Bigoa Nyuon (17 disposals, eight marks)
"'Biggy' played well on the weekend. He positioned himself well behind the footy and was able to get involved in our attack as a result. Looking for 'Biggy' to continue to develop his physicality and start to dominate his opponents down back, as he has the makings of a really good defender."
Sam Durham (17 disposals, three inside-50s, five marks)
"Sam is quickly developing into a very good player. He has worked hard to increase his knowledge of different roles. He played predominantly down back on the weekend and spent short periods of time on the wing. He showed good skills and he competed hard for us once again."
Maurice Rioli Jnr (14 disposals, one goal, seven tackles)
"Maurice was lively again. His defensive pressure is just incredible and he probably should have finished with a couple of goals."
Sydney Stack (13 disposals, one goal, four marks)
"Sydney was good on the weekend. Probably not quite as busy as he’s been over the past couple of weeks, but he was a whisker away from getting out the back on a number of occasions. He’s building a great base and really investing in the team which has been good to see."
Angus Hicks (13 disposals, one goal, four marks)
"'Hicksy' was a workhorse up and down the ground again on the weekend. Made good decisions with ball in hand and provided an option for us coming out of defensive 50 all day."
Samson Ryan (12 disposals, four goals, six marks)
"Great to see the big fella get rewarded on the weekend in his home state. His hands were very good and he made the most of his opportunities in front of the big sticks."
Joel Nathan (11 disposals, three rebound-50s)
"Joel battled his backside off all day. A number of times he looked beaten, only to fight his way back into the contest and get a spoil in. Another highlight was an incredible chase down tackle he did."
Matthew Bartlett (nine disposals, one goal, three marks)
"He didn’t have a huge day on the stats sheet but remained engaged in the game all day. His defensive work was a highlight and was a big part of us winning the footy back centre forward."
Cam Olden (four disposals, one goal, three marks)
"Cam was very lively in the first half and could have easily had three goals by half-time. He got injured quite badly, with a knee to the sternum in a really courageous act. We wish Cam a speedy recovery and hope to see him back in the Yellow and Black in the not-too-distant future."
