Shai Bolton took another significant step in his impressive development as a midfielder with some first-class clearance work for Richmond against Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval yesterday.
The young, silky-skilled speedster stood out like a lighthouse in what was an overall disappointing clearance performance by the Tigers throughout the match.
They were beaten 40-22 in total clearances, with Bolton racking up a team high seven of them.
Centre clearances were 20 to five Port’s way. Bolton had four of those five centre clearances.
Apart from Bolton’s clearance expertise, he also had three inside-50s, four score involvements and five tackles.
Currently, he is ranked No. 1 across the entire competition for inside-50s with 48.
Bolton also is ranked No. 1 among Richmond players for centre clearances (18) and No. 2 for total clearances (33), which is just two behind Dustin Martin.
