With just one win from four games, Richmond is in no position to be taking anything for granted in tonight’s Round 5 clash with Brisbane at the Gabba.
The Lions may be winless at the bottom of the ladder, coming off a 100-point loss last round, and severely undermanned due to injuries, but they will be desperately keen to produce a good performance for their veteran champion, Jonathon Brown, who is playing his 250th league game.
Despite their injury woes, they still have some genuine midfield talent, with the likes of Tom Rockliff, Jack Redden and Brent Moloney, who will need to be kept under tight check by the Tigers.
Richmond will look to its captain and star midfielder Trent Cotchin to break free of the shackles that saw him restricted to just 13 disposals against Collingwood in Round 4. Expect him to have a far greater influence tonight.
The Tigers have gone for a more mobile set-up in their attack this week, and they will be hoping Sam Lloyd, who was so impressive on debut last Friday night, along with Dustin Martin, Shane Edwards, Matt Arnot and Cotchin (when he’s “resting” up there) can combine with key forward Jack Riewoldt, to kick a winning score.
