Head coach


Tom Hunter was officially announced as Richmond’s inaugural AFLW Head Coach in June 2019.

The 28-year-old also oversees the Richmond VFLW program, a role he has held since its inception in November 2017. Hunter who developed his coaching prowess as an assistant coach with Richmond VFL and the Calder Cannons is an AFL Level 3 Accredited Coach.

In 2019 after leading Richmond to a maiden finals campaign and a top four finish, Hunter was named as the VFLW Coach of the Year.

Hunter’s coaching career came to fruition after his own AFL career was cut short at age 20.

A talent junior footballer, he was drafted by Collingwood with pick 18 in the 2010 AFL Rookie Draft before a series of neck injuries in his second year forced him into early retirement.

Hunter is a Primary School teacher by trade.
