Richmond ranks equal fourth among the 18 AFL teams for total home-and-away wins over the past five seasons.
The Tigers’ 41-point victory over St Kilda in yesterday’s final round clash at the MCG was their 15th win of season 2017 – the same number they achieved when they made the finals in 2013 and 2015.
But in both those years, unlike this season, the 15 wins were not enough to secure a double chance for them.
In 2014, Richmond staged an incredible comeback, putting together nine consecutive victories, to clinch a finals berth with 12 wins.
Last season was the only time in the past five years that the Tigers haven’t made the final eight. They finished in 13th place on the ladder in 2016 with just eight wins.
From 2013-2017, Richmond has recorded 65 wins, which is the same amount as Adelaide.
Only Hawthorn (79), Sydney (79) and Geelong (78) have achieved more home-and-away success during this period.
