Throughout 2011, Richmond Football Club and Tabcorp will continue their partnership, assisting local community programs and charities.
The partnership involves the support of charity group St Mary’s House of Welcome and the management of a football-based program, called Roaring Ahead, which is delivered on local housing estates, for primary-aged students.
The Roaring Ahead program also educates students on the importance of healthy eating and exercise. It targets students that are at high risk of becoming involved in unlawful activities, providing them with additional role models and activities that will develop their social skills.
“These programs are very important in keeping kids off the streets and engaged in healthy and educational activities,” said Chris McGeachan, a local Victorian Police officer, who has been involved with the development of the Roaring Ahead program.
Last week, Richmond’s CEO, Brendon Gale and Tabcorp’s Executive General Manager, Kerry Willcock, spoke with Tabcorp staff about the continued partnership and volunteer opportunities.
Tabcorp and Richmond staff will volunteer throughout the year for the programs and charities, with a major fundraising event scheduled towards the end of the season.
