Richmond defeated Geelong at GMHBA Stadium by five points on Sunday, in a thrilling come-from-behind victory.
The Tigers were down by as many as 37 points before turning it around, with Harry Scott the hero.
Both teams found their offensive flow early in the game, with the Tigers kicking early goals through Steely Green and Lachlan Wilson.
Their momentum was halted after that as the Cats dominated territory, regularly playing on quickly to generate good looks ahead of the ball.
Geelong kicked the final three goals of the first quarter helping give them a 16-point lead at quarter-time.
It was much of the same after the break as the Cats transition game made things difficult for the Tigers, with young Geelong key forward Jay Polkinghorne the beneficiary of some swift ball movement.
The Cats managed to stretch the lead out to five goals approaching time on.
It was crucial for Richmond to hit the scoreboard approaching half-time, and they were able to late, through Jacob Bauer and Taj Hotton.
This cut the margin back to four goals at the main break, breathing life into the game for what looked like a down and out Richmond outfit only minutes earlier.
The Tigers got off to the perfect start after the break with Green kicking his second, but Geelong responded with a goal to Jamieson Ballantyne and then another from ruckman Joe Pike.
Richmond continued to hang around though with back-to-back goals from Mohammed Yassine and Massimo Raso, followed by a late goal to Jacob Koschitzke to cut the margin to 18 points at the final break.
Despite trailing for most of the match, Richmond refused to lie down, starting the quarter in scintillating fashion with three quick goals.
The last of them from Green tied the scores just 10 minutes into the term, but with all the play against them, Keighton Matofai-Forbes managed to slot one to give the Cats back the lead.
But, Richmond vice-captain Joel Garner pushed forward soon after, taking a big grab and slotting the set shot to keep the Tigers right in it.
With time ticking away Geelong held a one-point lead before a massive run-down tackle by Liam George gave the Tigers the ball on the paint of 50.
He popped the kick over to Scott, who then slotted a brilliant goal from the boundary with just 11 seconds left, to give Richmond the lead for the first time since early on in the game.
Geelong won the following centre clearance and blasted inside 50, but Tylar Young pulled down a game-saving mark as Richmond produced a win for the ages, after being down by 37 points late in the second quarter.
Jayden Short was brilliant on return from a calf injury, registering 27 disposals and 14 marks, while Scott was the hero and finished with 26 disposals, 10 tackles and the winning goal.
Green also helped spark the comeback, kicking three goals and providing great pressure inside-50, while Hotton displayed his immense talent once again with 23 disposals and a goal. Josh Gibcus also made a successful comeback, after more than 15 months out of the game with injury.
Bauer left the game with a suspected ACL injury.
The Tigers will now look ahead to next Saturday's clash against Southport at Kinetic Stadium.
