Four AFLW Tigers featured in the coaches’ votes for their 11-point Round 2 win over GWS at the Swinburne Centre on Sunday afternoon, led by gun midfielder Ellie McKenzie.

The former No. 1 draft pick and AFLW Best First Year Player was strong on Sunday afternoon, collecting 18 disposals, including 11 contested possessions, along with two tackles and two clearances, to receive six votes.

Richmond AFLW senior coach Ryan Ferguson said the 21-year-old “was strong, and I felt like she wasn’t far off busting through a few times.”

“If she continues to play with that assertiveness and that presence…she’s going to get through a few times and cause some damage if she can play with that real aggression,” Ferguson said.

Grace Egan (five votes) was influential out of the middle of the ground, finishing the match with 18 disposals, 14 contested possessions, five tackles and three clearances.

Also receiving five votes was skipper Katie Brennan, with Ryan Ferguson stating that “she gave us everything that we required in every moment.”

“She kept fighting and competing, (and) I thought she was really lively today…whatever was required for her teammates she was willing to do, so I thought she led in a terrific way,” he said.
