Tim Taranto tackles Gold Coast's Touk Miller at the MCG last Saturday afternoon.

Tim Taranto has equalled the record for the most tackles by a Richmond player in a match.

The star midfielder had 14 tackles in the final home-and-away round match of the 2024 season against Gold Coast at the MCG.

That’s the same amount as his current teammate Jack Graham and former Tigers Shane Tuck and Angus Graham previously achieved on game day.

Jack Graham’s 14 tackles were against Carlton in Round 21 of the 2019 season at the MCG.

Angus Graham and Shane Tuck both had 14 tackles in the same match – Round 10, 2010 v Port Adelaide at Football Park.

The Tigers had a whopping combined total of 142 tackles that day in extremely wet conditions.

Against the Suns last Saturday, Taranto also had 30 disposals, nine contested possessions, an equal team-high eight marks, four inside-50s, four score involvements and 315 metres gained to go with his 14 tackles in a first-rate performance.

It was the second time Taranto has had 14 tackles in a match . . .  Round 18, 2019 v Collingwood at Engie Stadium while playing with Greater Western Sydney was the other occasion.
