Triple Richmond premiership star defender Nick Vlastuin had an excellent finish to what, arguably, was his best season of AFL football.

Vlastuin again stood tall for the Tigers across the backline in last Saturday’s final home-and-away round clash with Gold Coast at the MCG.

He had 26 disposals, seven contested possessions, an equal team-high eight marks, a game-high nine intercepts, five inside-50s, a game-high seven reound-50s, three score involvements and 536 metres gained.

Across the season, Vlastuin averaged 20.1 disposals, 6.8 marks, 6.1 rebound-50s, 8.1 intercepts and 408.8 metres gained per match.

The 30-year-old veteran of 233 AFL games is ranked No. 3 in the competition for intercepts, No. 4 for rebound-50s and No. 14 for total marks.

An inaugural Jack Dyer Medal may well be headed Vlastuin’s way following his first-class 2024 season.

Vlastuin has finished in the top 10 of Richmond’s Best and Fairest six times, with a best result of third in 2020.
