“He’s postcode nowhere” . . .
That’s how star Richmond defender Nick Vlastuin described his talented, versatile, young teammate Noah Balta following the Tigers’ 22-point victory over Sydney at Marvel Stadium last night.
In his brief senior career at Tigerland so far, the 19-year-old has been used across the backline, in the ruck, and up forward, prompting Vlastuin’s humorous, off-the-cuff comment about him during a post-match interview with 3AW.

Vlastuin, however, then went on to provide a serious appraisal of Balta’s playing ability.
“He’s such an athlete. He can kind of do everything, so the coaches don’t really just tell him to stay down the line, spoil, spoil, spoil,” Vlastuin said.
“He can make it up as he goes because he’s so athletic.
“He’s one of the quicker boys. And then he can kick it 60 metres.
“So we don’t want to hold him back.
“We just give him instructions and tell him off you go.
“It’s exciting.”
Balta had nine disposals, with four contested possessions, five inside-50s and kicked two goals in a promising display against the Swans that further underlined his football attributes.
He was particularly pleased to hit the scoreboard, as he told Channel Seven in a post-match interview on the ground.
“Pretty rapt with it,” Balta said.
“It’s just reward at the end of the day. You run your patterns and the reward’s in the end.”

Although Balta admitted he’s also not sure which on-field position best suits him, it isn’t something that fazes him.
“I keep getting thrown around, but I see it as an opportunity.
I keep playing wherever he (coach Damien Hardwick) puts me. I keep playing that role and do what I need to do to help out the team.”
