Kodi Jacques will continue her AFLW career at Essendon after a trade between Richmond and the expansion club was reached today.
In exchange for Jacques, Richmond receives a second-round pick, currently 27 overall, that can be used at the 2023 AFLW Supplementary Draft.
Jacques was signed to the Tigers’ VFLW list from Bendigo in 2018 after she impressed at a regional Come and Try Day. She was then elevated to Richmond’s inaugural AFLW squad from the VFLW program in August 2019.
The 22-year-old played 26 AFLW games for Richmond across four seasons, including four in Season 7 between Rounds 5 and 8.
Jacques predominantly spent her time at the Club playing as a small forward while also being occasionally deployed as a midfielder or half-back.
The inaugural AFLW Tiger played in Richmond’s first win and first AFLW match, both key moments in the team’s young history.
Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan, thanked Jacques for her contribution to the Club.
“Kodi has been with us since the very beginning, so we thank her for her dedication and investment across a five-year period,” Sheahan said.
“She has been an energetic, fun-loving and valued member of our group that can be proud to have been an inaugural Tiger.
“Ultimately, Kodi was looking for further football opportunities, which we respect.
“We wish her and her family all the best with the next chapter and their future endeavours.”
