Richmond's AFLW side is ready to get stuck into the upcoming season, the Tigers relishing their chance at a second crack in 2022.

Defender Maddie Shevlin said the group was looking forward to building on their progress from their first three seasons in the league.

"We're really excited to have another opportunity in the same year to go again," she said.

"We're hungry to hit Round 1 and be really successful there and see what happens.

"We've got a bit of momentum through match sim and practice match, so we're really keen."

The Tigers are heading into Season 7 with confidence after two victorious pre-season wins over Fremantle and Hawthorn.

"We had a few injuries last season, and new players have come in, more mature-aged through the draft which is really exciting," Shevlin said.

"Getting Libby Graham into our backline, and being in the backline myself, is quite exciting.

"Hopefully we can go well together and have a really strong defence."

With her first season as a Tiger under her belt, Shevlin is is feeling "comfortable and relaxed" heading into her second.

"It's exciting, I know the playing group, I know the coaching staff," she said.

"Hopefully I can continue to build on that, play all 10 games, stay injury free.

"I'm willing to do everything I can to play my role for the team."

With less than a week to go now until Round 1, the focus for the Tigers this week will be to put the final touches on their pre-season.

"I think it's putting a bit of polish on it now and making sure our connection piece is really big," Shevlin said.

"Continue driving our standards and never settling for anything less than our best."

Richmond's AFLW season kicks off this Sunday, August 28 against Geelong at GMHBA Stadium from 4.10pm.
