Three talented AFLW Tigers have been named in the 2022 All Australian squad.
Announced on Wednesday afternoon, inaugural Tigers Katie Brennan, Monique Conti and Rebecca Miller all featured in the 40-woman squad.
Skipper Brennan will be vying for back-back selections after earning a spot in the final team last year, while star Tiger Conti is in contention for her third All Australian side.
Reliable defender Miller is in line for a first-time All Australian selection.
Twenty-nine-year-old Brennan backed up her career-best 2021 season with another stellar year. Brennan, who was named at half-forward in the 2021 All Australian team, has now kicked at least one goal in her past 15 consecutive games and counting, an AFLW record.
She finished fourth on the league's goalkicking tally for the season, with a total of 14 majors.
Fresh from being named captain of the AFL Players' AFLW 22Under22 side earlier this week, Conti has been listed in the All Australian squad for the fifth consecutive year.
A dual member of the final All Australian side (2021 and 2019), the midfield sensation played all 10 of Richmond's home and away games, scoring a perfect 10 from the coaches on three occasions to finish sixth overall on the AFLW Champion Of The Year leaderboard.
Leading the competition for contested possessions (15.2), the decorated youngster averaged 24 disposals, 337 metres gained, five clearances and six tackles per game.
Miller's inclusion in the squad is a testament to her importance in the Tigers' backline. The 26-year-old was a revelation for Richmond in 2022, asserting herself as one of the competition’s premier key defenders.
The nimble and athletic Tiger stepped up in the absence of injured vice-captain Harriet Cordner to lead Richmond's defence throughout the season, with key performances in Round 9 v GWS (seven marks), Round 6 v North Melbourne (19 disposals) and Round 10 v Collingwood (15 disposals).
The 2022 AFL Women’s All-Australian Squad was selected by an eight-person panel including: Nicole Livingstone (Chair), Andrew Dillon, Laura Kane, Brad Scott, Sam Virgo, Narelle Smith, Kelli Underwood, Sarah Black, Megan Waters, Tim Harrington.
The final All Australian team of 21 – as well as the captain and vice-captain - will be announced at W Awards next Tuesday, April 5.
