Exciting teenage prospect Mabior Chol has been on a steep learning curve during the first few months of his playing career at Richmond, but he’s jumped (both figuratively and literally) at the opportunities that he’s been afforded.

Richmond’s second selection in the AFL’s rookie draft late last year has been a permanent fixture in the Tigers’ team throughout their NAB Challenge campaign, and he’s shown some particularly promising signs for the future.

“It has been a great experience for me to play all three NAB’s, but tonight was much harder than all the other games, I would say.  The footy was much quicker . . ,” Chol told ‘Roar Vision’ in the Etihad Stadium rooms, following the Tigers’ loss to Port Adelaide in their third and final NAB Challenge match.

“I’ve just taken all the opportunity that I had . . . Back to training now, and see how it goes with everything.

“It has come a fair way (his development), but still got a long way to go.  I’m sure that I will develop into it . . .

“Just do the simple things and keep learning.  That’s definitely one of the biggest things.”

The 19-year-old has received some top-class Tigerland tuition, at the outset of his league career, from a couple of the Club’s experienced stars.

“Jack Riewoldt’s just been helping me with everything – goalkicking, all the forward stuff.  And, with Ivan Maric as well in the ruck as well,” he said.

“Those two boys have really been helping me a lot with my footy.”
