Richmond has named seven new players in its 29-man squad for Friday’s opening-round NAB Challenge clash with Fremantle at Mandurah.
The Tigers’ first pick in last year’s National Draft, Daniel Rioli, second selection Oleg Markov, WA mature-age recruit Nathan Broad, big-bodied, midfield acquisition from rival league club GWS, Jacob Townsend (GWS), along with their three recent rookie-list additions Callum Moore, Mabior Chol and Adam Marcon, will have an opportunity first-up to press their claims for a place in the line-up for the season-opener against Carlton on March 24.

They have been joined by eight second-year Tigers – Corey Ellis, Connor Menadue, Kamdyn McIntosh, Kane Lambert, Daniel Butler, Jayden Short, Jason Castagna and Ivan Soldo.
“We’ve left 8-10 experienced players out, and those positions will be up for grabs . . ,” said Richmond’s coach Damien Hardwick.
“Our list has got better every year . . . I look forward to the competition it brings about in our players.
“We’re going to get some good results out of it.”
The most seasoned campaigner in the Tigers’ team to take on the Dockers is key defender Troy Chaplin, who turns 30 next week.
Chaplin has played 207 games over 12 seasons of league football, with 67 of them in the three years since he’s been at Richmond.
