Taylor Hunt is eagerly awaiting September action in his first season with Richmond, after previously appearing in two finals during his five-year career at Geelong.
Hunt played in the Cats’ losing 2012 elimination final against Fremantle at the MCG and their semi-final win against Port Adelaide at the ‘G’ in 2013.
He hasn’t missed a game for the Tigers this season after joining the Club as a delisted free agent last November.
The 24-year-old is averaging 17.6 disposals per match and he’s added some valuable run-and-carry to Richmond’s back half.
“Being here at Richmond, it’s really exciting this time of year . . . playing finals and in front of big crowds,” Hunt told K-Rock.
“I’m just looking forward to that opportunity to play in September.”
Hunt has thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience at his new football home . . .
“Playing at the ‘G’ is just awesome . . . I sort of pinch myself every now and then. And I’m sure I will in September,” he said.
“It’s a different environment. When you train at Punt Road, you can see the (MCG) lights, the city landscape and stuff like that.
“It’s just an awesome place to be, with such fanatical fans as well packing out the MCG.”
Hunt believes the biggest difference between Richmond and Geelong is the vast experience the Cats have had at their disposal for such a long time.
“Geelong just had that experience while I was there, and the old heads . . . we’ve got a younger crew here,” he said.
“We’re very excited to be there at the business time end of the year, and looking to redeem ourselves from last year’s performance in the finals.”
Hunt is one of several members of the Tigers’ line-up who goes about his business quietly, but efficiently, as a valuable role player.
“We probably think we’re probably blue-collar players,” he said.
“There’s nothing special about us, but we just like to get the job done and play for the team.
“We’re probably a bit dull . . . you won’t see us much in the highlights’ packages.”
