Talented, young Richmond defender Nick Vlastuin has what it takes to become an elite league player, according to his backline teammate Dylan Grimes.
Vlastuin, who was the Tigers’ first pick (No. 9 overall) in the 2012 National Draft, is playing an important role in the team’s back half, due to his strength, courage, determination, discipline and composure under pressure.

The 21-year-old has played all 10 games so far this season, taking his overall tally to 48, and is averaging 15.1 disposals per match.
“I think he’s just been grooming himself to be a premier defender of, not just our club, but the competition,” Grimes said on this week’s episode of the Club’s official podcast, ‘Talking Tigers’.
“The transition he’s made has been pretty sort of linear, I think.
“He’s improved again this year, as like he did last year, and I think we’ll keep seeing that trend going upwards.
“He’s become a really important player for us, and I think he’ll continue to be so going forward.”
